Elizabeth L. Blackwood nee Bain was born in Muirkirk, Ayrshire, Scotland in the year 1917. She married John B. Blackwood on November 1, 1935. After surviving the hardships of World war two Elizabeth and her family (5 children) immigrated to Canada in 1954.
Elizabeth has written many poems, mostly for her Sunday school students, her children her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and friends. When each birthday arrived (and she never forgot any of them) she sat down and within minutes had a poem written for that special person.
When asked how she accomplished this, she answered “I just think of the person and the words come to me”.
Elizabeth’s daughter has kept a record of her poetry. She calls it the family legacy! They are all very proud of their mother’s works.
Elizabeth is not a public person, but when her daughter asked if she would like to share some of her poems with others she agreed.
Since Elizabeth's passing in 2009, the family have been trying to share her most loved poems with as many people as possible!
In these pages of poetry you will travel with Elizabeth and her family from past to present and enjoy the talents of this amazing lady.
